Hello, thanks for visiting my web page. In the middle, you'll see several links that will tell you a little more about who I am. The site is still under construction so not everything is working yet, please bear with me while I continue to make it better.

More About Me

Hi! My name is Erika Ashby or just Mrs. Ashby to my students.  I am currently attending East Tennessee State University and taking classes working towards a Master's degree in Secondary English Education.  I also teach 8th grade Language Arts at Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee, but I am on summer break at the moment.  In a few short weeks, we will be back in session, and I will be back in full teacher-mode.  In the picture above, you can see my baby, Holly.  She is the closest thing I have to a baby at this point.  My husband and I have been married for four years.  We love to take trips, and in those four years we have been to Charleston, Savannah, Boston, the Bahamas, St. Louis, and Williamsburg.  We are hoping to visit my dream destination, England, next year!  Besides taking trips, I love to scrapbook and make picture memory videos.  I read a lot, hence the English teacher, and love music and movies.  My favorite author is Agatha Christie! I love mystery and detective fiction.  I hope to someday publish my own mystery novel.  I collect lots of movies, including classic movies.  (See "My Favorite Things"). Also, I couldn't live without Dave Matthews Band and I love to go to concerts.

I hope working on my master's degree will take me to new exciting places.  I love to learn new things and hope I can pass those things on to my students.  I love teaching 8th grade - it is the perfect age group for me.  They are lots and lots of fun! The worst part of my job is letting them go at the end of the school year.
