I Grew up on the beautiful Southeaster Coast of Massachusetts, in the city of New Bedford.

In the early part of the 19th century, New Bedford was famous for its Whaling industry and was the setting for the novel by Herman Melville, entitled Moby Dick.

It was during this time, that immigrants from the Cape Verde Islands arrived, to escape the drought and famine in their homeland.
