Rachel Baker was born in Johnson City, TN. She has lived in the Jonesborough, TN area her entire life. She currently resides in Telford, TN with her loving family (see picture below). Rachel received her Bachelor of Science in physics from ETSU in May of 2005. She graduate with Magna Cum Laude honors and a minor in mathematics. After taking a year off to start a family, Rachel returned to ETSU in the Fall of 2006 to pursue a Master's in the Art of Teaching (MAT) degree in secondary math and science education. Rachel is currently a recipient of the 2007 ETSU Quillen Graduate Scholar Award and works as a Graduate Assistant in the Center of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education under the leadership of Dr. Jack Rhoton. Rachel enjoys her GA position because she gets to work with local students and teachers in helping them develop lifelong learning skills in science.
Rachel's passion in life includes mentoring students in math and science and spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, and strolling her son at the park.
